1966 Shelby American
It was a 1-2-3 finish for the Ford GT40 MkII cars at 1966 Le Mans with Shelby American drivers Ken Miles and Denis Hulme dominating the race in the later stages only to be denied the win due to a technicality in the end. Ford executives ordered a dead heat across the finish line and Bruce McClaren and Chris Amon were settled as the winners since it was determined that the #2 car started further back, traveled a further distance, and therefore, won the race.
